Sentimentalist—noun—one who is marked or governed by feeling, sensibility or emotional idealism  b. resulting from feeling rather than reason or thought.

Ch. 24

Sublimate—verb—sublime ( to cause to pass from the solid to the vaor state by heating and again condense to solid form.  To elevate or exalt esp in dignity or convert something inferior into something of higher worth—to pass directly from the solid to the vapor state.)  2. to divert the expression of an instinctual desire or impulse from its primitive form to one that is considered more socially or culturally acceptable.

Circe—a sorceress who changed Odysseus’ men into swine but was forced by Odysseus to change them back.

Ch. 27

Anthropomorphic-adj—ascribing a human form or human characteristics to nonhuman things.  (humanizing)

Ch. 29

Prometheus—A Titan who according to Greek myth stole fire from heaven, gave it to man, and was consequently put to extreme torture by Zeus.

Ch. 30

Pittance-noun- a small portion, amount or allowance: meager

Equanimity—noun—1. eveness of mind esp. under stress  2. right disposition

Comportment-noun-manner or demeanor

Prodigious—adj—3. extraordinary in bulk, quantity or degree–enormous
